Second coin in the series for the 500th anniversary of the round-the-world voyage: Tenebrous Sea

The obverse shows two images of Juan Sebastián de Elcano and Ferdinand Magellan, taken from the portraits of the two men in the Naval Museum in Madrid. Above these images is a compass rose. On the right, detail of the head of the sculptural work entitled Charles V, by Leone and Pompeo Leoni, which is in the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid; below it, the legend CARLOS V. At the top of the coin, the legend ESPAÑA 2020. At the bottom of the coin, the legends ELCANO and MAGALLANES. The entire background of the coin is occupied by lines in the form of a grid of winds.

The reverse shows an image reminiscent of Magellan and Elcano's round-the-world voyage, with the allegory of the dark sea. At the top left is the legend 10 euro and at the right the crowned M (mintmark). At the bottom of the coin, the legend V CENTENARIO DE LA VUELTA AL MUNDO.
