14 November 2024 marks the centenary of the first radio broadcast in Spain, a milestone that marked the beginning of a revolution in communication. Exactly 100 years ago, in 1924, the first radio broadcast took place, opening a new chapter in the history of the media. This historic event not only allowed the dissemination of information and entertainment to a mass audience, but also contributed to the cultural and social development of the country. In the century since then, radio has evolved enormously, adapting to new technologies and changing the way people connect and inform themselves. On the occasion of this event, the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre - Real Casa de la Moneda issues a silver collector's coin.
The reverse features an image of a microphone and headphones. The face value of the coin, 10 EURO, appears in two lines and in capital letters at the top of the coin. In the centre, the years 1924 and 2024. At the bottom of the coin is the mintmark. Surrounding the motifs and legends is a graphite depicting radio waves. The obverse shows an allegorical image of a radio emitting words and musical notes on a background in the shape of the map of Spain. At the top of the coin is the legend ESPAÑA (SPAIN), with radio waves above it.
