On the occasion of the 175th Anniversary of the Issue of the First Postage Stamp in Spain 1850-2025, the Spanish Mint issues a silver coin of 8 Reales. During the reign of Isabel II the first Spanish stamp "the 6 Cuartos Negro" was issued on 1st January 1850, under the Royal Decree of 24th October 1949, which indicated the use of postage stamps as payment of postage and certificate fees for correspondence.
