On the occasion of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America, a series of collector coins has been issued. This theme, reflected in the motifs of the coins, highlights Spain's contribution to the success of the struggle in favour of the Thirteen American Colonies.
The obverse of this coin features a portrait of Jordi Farragut inside a decorative base, from which two arms emerge. On the reverse of this piece is an image of the port of Mahon in the 17th century, from where Jordi Farragut left to join the fight for American independence.

The FNMT-RCM pays tribute to Spain's significant, though often under-recognised, role in the American War of Independence. Spain became a crucial supporter of the Revolutionary cause, providing military, financial and strategic assistance that proved vital to the ultimate success of American independence. Under the leadership of figures such as Bernardo de Gálvez, Spanish forces fought against the British in key battles along the Gulf Coast and in the Mississippi Valley. Beyond the battlefield, Spain also provided essential funding, supplies and safe harbours, which sustained the revolutionary effort in some of its most difficult moments.
The collection consists of 10 coins issued between 2025 and 2026: three will be released in 2025 and the remaining seven in 2026.
