5 POUND STERLING NOTE . In 1942 the Nazis devised a plan to wreck the British economy. The largest mass counterfeiting operation in history was underway, led by Reinhard Heidrych. 100 million British Pounds were issued, in small denomination notes, and carried out by S.S. Major Bernhard Kruger and a team of Germany's best draughtsmen and counterfeiters, the vast majority of them Jewish.
