The Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre - Real Casa de la Moneda commemorates the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This year, 2023, Spain will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the fifth time in the second half of the year, between 1 July and 31 December. The Council of the European Union is the name given to the meetings of the ministers of the Member States. Together with the European Parliament, it has legislative, budgetary and coordinating functions. Government ministers from each EU country meet to discuss, adopt and amend legislation and to coordinate policies. The coin comes in proof quality in a special numbered blister pack with a maximum issue of 5,000.
