Description

The IX and last series of collector's coins called "Numismatic Jewels" has been issued, in which unique pieces of Hispanic Numismatics are reproduced since 2008, when the first coin of this collection was minted. The aim of the "Numismatic Jewels" issues has been to rescue the most unique pieces of Hispanic numismatics for today's public. The first series was dedicated to the Roman Aureus and the Hispano-Greek Drachma. The second was dedicated to the Segovian Centén and Cincuentín. The third, the Hispano-Carthaginian Shekel and two issues of the Visigothic Trient, those of the kings Suintila and Leovigild. The fourth series represented the gold Maravedí of Alfonso VIII, the Almohad Dinar and a Dinero of Alfonso VIII. The fifth issue featured three coins of the Catholic Monarchs: the Dos Excelentes de la Granda, the Medio Excelente and the Real. The sixth issue featured two coins minted by the Madrid Mint in 1615 - a two escudos piece and a four reales piece - plus another coin with the Madrid mintmark used in 1615 and the obverse and reverse types of the maravedis minted at the Madrid mint from 1618 onwards. The seventh issue was dedicated to the Hemidrachm of Ebusus, the Ace of Clounioq and the Light Drachma of Gadir. The previous issue was dedicated to the two coats of arms of Philip V in 1731, the peseta of Juan Carlos I in 2001 and the 8 reales of Charles IV in 1808.
