The Battle of Lepanto was the last and largest naval battle fought by rowing galleys. It took place on 7 October 1571 in the Gulf of Patras, on the west coast of Greece, and takes its name from the port of Lepanto.
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of His Majesty King Philip VI on the left. The reverse, in the centre of the coin, shows the image of the model of the Galera Real, the flagship of Don Juan de Austria in the Battle of Lepanto, which is in the Museu Marítim de Barcelona.
