This year 2025 the issue is dedicated to the Old City of Salamanca. This ancient university city was conquered by the Carthaginians in the 3rd century a.C. and later became a Roman settlement, before being ruled by the Arabs until the 11th century. The university, one of the oldest in Europe, reached its peak during the city's golden age. The historic centre has important Romanesque, Gothic, Moorish, Renaissance and Baroque monuments. The Plaza Mayor, with its arcades and arcades, is particularly impressive. The obverse of the coin shows an image of the Convent of San Esteban. At the top, in capital letters and in a circular shape, the legend SALAMANCA and the mintmark. At the bottom, in capital letters and in a circle, the legend ESPAÑA (SPAIN) and the mint mark 2025. The twelve stars of the European Union appear around the outer circular area.
